The Tahoe National Forest Fire and Aviation Management Program is very rewarding and requires talented people working safely as part of a team in a variety of specialized positions; including Engine Crews, Helicopter Helitack Crew, Interagency Hotshot Crews, Fire Prevention, Fire & Fuels Management, Fuels Crews, Lookouts, and Dispatch.

 

 

Tahoe National Forest Fire Positions

The Tahoe National Forest, FIRE AND AVIATION MANAGEMENT is looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals for positions as Wildland Firefighters on Engines, Handcrews/Hotshots, Helicopter Helitack Crew, Fuels Reduction Crews, Lookouts, and Dispatch which respond to local and national fire and all-hazard incidents.

Candidates should contact the U.S. Forest Service District office of the duty station they’re interested in to express interest and receive further information regarding positions and application process.

For Permanent Fire positions including Permanent Year-round, Permanent Seasonal, and Wildland Firefighter Apprenticeship, applications are submitted on USAjobs.gov

Applications MUST be complete and submitted by the closing date of the specific application period to be accepted.

For Temporary Seasonal positions:

    Contact the local U.S. Forest Service office of the duty location you’re interested in, for interest, questions, and specific hiring information. During the Fire Hire process all applications are submitted on www.usajobs.gov and are rated by subject matter experts. In order for you to rate out higher, you need to make sure your application is complete and thorough. Upload all required documents listed in the job vacancy announcement to the USAjobs application. Review the job duties listed in the job vacancy announcement. In your resume, describe in detail what your experience history is and especially previous experience that relates to the job duties described in the job announcement.  If you are only putting one line in your work history, you will not rate as high as a candidate. List all fire training you have attended, all fire qualifications, and describe in detail your fire experience. Proofread. Applicants must attach a copy of their IQCS Master Record or equivalent that shows they meet the IFPM requirements for the job.
