The Final Assessment and Needs to Change were posted on March 9, 2017.

Throughout the Assessment phase (starting in 2014), the Tonto National Forest collected and compiled existing information on the current state of the Forest and host the Community Forums. Forest staff created a Draft Assessment Report focusing on the evaluation of that information in terms of ecological, economic, social, and cultural conditions, trends, and risks to sustainability. The Draft Assessment was posted for public review September 3rd - November 4th 2016. The planning team worked to incorporate provided feedback into the final assessment.
