The 2nd Technical Partner Meeting was held on April 25, 2018. Utilizing notes from the 1st Technical Partner Meeting (November 2017) and public comments received, resource specialists developed elements of draft alternatives to discuss and collaborate on during this meeting. Due to public and partner interest, the meeting was mostly focused on recreation and restoration (two of the draft issues identified below). Feedback from this meeting was used to develop the Draft Forest Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

After the Technical Partner Meeting, Tonto National Forest staff and partners took a field trip to the Granite Reef Recreation Area. Many management actions could be implemented at this site, including restoring native vegetation, changing the amenities to encourage different types or levels of recreational use, maintaining habitat for wildlife, and mitigating wildfires. The participants discussed the value of the site and how the forest could prioritize management actions in the draft forest plan.

Notes from the 2nd Technical Partner Meeting and the Recreation Field Trip are available below.
