America the Beautiful Program on the Wayne National Forest

Several Federal agencies have combined their recreation passes into a program known as America the Beautiful – the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.  Participating agencies include the USDA Forest Service, National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation. As public land managers, each agency provides different benefits and access for citizens to make the most of our most treasured places. 

Types of interagency passes available through the America the Beautiful Program include:

Benefits from the pass program vary by the type of services offered and whether or not the site is operated by a concessionaire. The tables below explain the passes and address the situation as it applies to the Wayne National Forest.

Interagency Senior Pass
  • Camping: Pass holders may obtain a 50% discount on camping fees at Oak Hill, Iron Ridge, Leith Run, Stone Church, and Burr Oak Campgrounds.
  • Sites with utility hookups: A 50% discount applies only to the camping base fee. It does not apply to sites that charge a separate fee for utilities, such as electricity.
  • Day-use: A 100% discount applies to any Forest Service operated Standard Amenity day-use area that charges a fee, such as the Lake Vesuvius Swim Area. Admits pass holder and any accompanying passengers in a private non- commercial vehicle.
  • Facility or Equipment Rentals:  Discount does not apply to any other fee such as cabin rentals, shelter rentals, group campsites, and canoe/boat rentals.
  • Reservation Fees:  Discount does not apply to any National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS) reservation fees.
  • Trail Permits:  Discount does not apply to any WNF trail permits.

  • Day-use:  A 100% discount applies to any Forest Service operated Standard Amenity day-use area that charges a fee, such as the Lake Vesuvius Swim Area.  Persons 15 and younger are admitted free of charge.

This pass does not cover nor provide a discount for any other fees charged on the WNF.
