Description:
Multi-criteria decision support (MCDS) is a well-tested system that assists complex decision-making to be more effective and transparent. It is also a wonderful way to support basic mediation principles: separating positions from interests and science from policy, leveling and raising the education playing field, creating positive tension between old stories and shared new information, integrating with joint fact-finding, prioritizing research needs, and allowing people to test their values in complex scenarios. Web applications and design implications are also addressed. This fun course involves you in new techniques, provides a wonderful review of mediation basics, and stretches your mind as a designer and integrator.

Learning Objectives:

1. Expose participants to multi-criteria decision support and the elements it brings to collaborative design.
2. Interactively think through some of the design possibilities for integrating MCDS with mediation principles.
3. Close the gap between exposure and practice (participants either feel confident to do this themselves), know how to get there, or know how to find resources/teammates).
