Portraying the Forest Service Image—Applying the Built Environment Image Guide to Administrative Sites

By Kathleen Snodgrass

Forest Service buildings and sites should portray an appropriate Forest Service image, serve our customers well, and fit into the surrounding environment. The Forest Service's "Built Environment Image Guide for National Forests and Grasslands" (BEIG) was created to help designers and decision-makers understand how to do that. This report explains how to apply the BEIG at administrative sites, such as research labs and ranger stations. It includes illustrative photos and helpful advice on cost-effective measures that can be used during maintenance and new construction projects.
