Above is a series of drawings illustrating the installation of a rock checkdam.

The top drawing, drawing A, is a front view of the rock dam. It shows a gully lined with large rocks.

Drawing B is a side view of the rock dam. It shows a large pile of large rocks with filter fabric lying over the upstream side of the dam and ¾" rebar pounded at the bottom of the downstream side of the dam. It explains to "filter fabric or thick layer of organic litter" near wear the rebar is installed. Up from the rebar is a dug out notch at the base of the dam. From that notch, rocks are pile up and meet the upstream side of the dam to meet at sort of a point.

The bottom drawing, drawing C, is a top view of the rock dam. It explains to "insert upstream edge of fabric into cutoff trench in gully bottom and sides". It explains to "attach fabric to gully sides loosely with 6" staples or large nails and washers".
