Above is a drawing illustrating a brush layering fill method. In the drawing there is a large trench dug out nest to a stream. In the trench, ½ inch-2 inch diameter live cuttings are laid and are buried horizontally with a compacted fill. The cuttings are spaced evenly starting from the bottom of the trench near the streambank to the top of the trench at the top of the slope. Above the trench it is explained that "existing vegetation plantings, or soil bioengineering techniques" can be used. The drawing notes "Rooted, leafed condition of plant material is not representative of the time of installation."
