Above is a drawing illustrating the installation of a woven checkdam. The drawing shows "dormant willow branches min. ¼" in diameter" horizontally woven to "willow stakes, min. 1" in diameter" that are driven vertically into the base of the gully to the point where "60-80% of the total stake length" is underground. Resulting is a woven checkdam that covers the entire length and height of a gully. The drawing explains to "Excavate key 6"-8" into gully sides. Fill key with compacted earth when weaving is completed".
