Particulate matter in smoke can impair visibility
and raise health concerns. Forest Service
and Bureau of Land Management employees rely on the DataRAM 4 smoke particulate
monitor to keep track of smoke concentration.
The "DataRAM 4 Smoke Particulate Monitor Training Presentation" (0725–2F01–MTDC) shows how to set up the monitor and satellite transmission unit so data will be sent to the interagency real-time smoke particulate monitoring Web site. The presentation was prepared using the Adobe Flash format, which allows text, photos, and narration to be combined. It is available for Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management employees at:
