What’s the difference between a Regional or Stationwide Strategic Facilities Management Plan and a Forest or Station Facilities Master Plan?Topic

Regional or Stationwide Strategic Facilities Management Plans are broader in scope and less oriented toward specific sites and buildings than Forest or Station Master Plans.

Strategic Management Plans establish a framework for Regionwide capital improvement and maintenance programs.  They are focused on effectively and efficiently investing scarce facilities resources to provide the right facilities in the right locations to support the Forest Service mission.  Regional or Stationwide facilities management plans make use of Forest or Station facilities master plans to identify which facilities are needed to support the Forest Service mission and house the organization needed to implement that mission.  Regional or Stationwide facilities master plans also establish consistent regional criteria and goals, help to coordinate property management on a regional basis, and provide a regional or stationwide perspective for those situations unique to the Region or Station, in accordance with Servicewide guidance.

Example Regional and Stationwide Strategic Facilities Master Plans:

Northern Region (R-1)

Southwestern Region (R-5)

Pacific Northwest Region (R-6)
