Public Participatory Design Process

Using the "Charrette" Method

What We’ve Learned

  • Designers must trust the users and learn to facilitate their involvement in design, rather than listen to clients and control the design process.

  • Pictures speak louder than words.

  • This process has yet to fail us. The public loves it. Who doesn’t like wearing a "White Hat"?

  • The process "locks in" the design parameters. They won’t change half way through with a new ranger.
