On the Move: Sept. 10, 2021
Mark Green has accepted the position of associate deputy chief for Business Operations. He currently serves as director of Human Resources Management. Erica Nieto will serve as acting director for HRM.
Jaelith Hall-Rivera has accepted the position of deputy chief for State & Private Forestry in Washington, D.C. She has served as acting deputy chief since John Phipps retired last year.
Brian Ferebee accepted the responsibility to lead a national team that will develop the agency's strategy to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest and community resilience, effective Aug. 16. In this role he will lead a cross-boundary effort to develop and implement a 10-year plan to dramatically increase fuels and forest health treatments. Ferebee previously served as senior executive for intergovernmental relations under the Chief's Office.
The following people will join the national team:
Russell "Russ" Bacon will serve as deputy team lead. He currently serves as forest supervisor for the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland.
Janette "Jan" Davis will serve as lead program manager to operationalize the work and oversee sub-teams. She currently serves as deputy regional forester for the Southern Region.
Andrea Bedell Loucks will serve as external liaison lead to build capacity through agency partners. She currently serves as assistant director for planning and public engagement in Ecosystem Management Coordination, Washington, D.C.
Lawrence "Larry" Chambers will serve as change management and communication lead. He currently serves as acting chief of staff for the National Forest System in Washington, D.C.
Michael "Mike" Scanlon will serve as applications developer/analyst. He currently serves as solution manager for the Natural Resource Manager branch of the Chief Information Office, Washington, D.C.
Simon Strickland will serve as the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers program manager. He currently serves as branch chief of the Chief Information Office project management office, Washington, D.C.
Laurel McClean will serve as special assistant to team lead Brian Ferebee. She currently serves as executive assistant to the Chief.
