Budget Myth vs. Fact: Non-monetary awards

We are providing information about the implementation of our new agency budget structure through myth-busting and sharing facts that help us all learn together.
Myth #14: Non-monetary awards can be charged to program budget line items.
Fact #14: All awards paid by appropriated funds must be charged to the salary and expense budget line items. All employee awards, including non-monetary, are considered an employee expense and therefore are paid by the salary and expense budget line items. Refer to the Human Resources Management website for updated guidance and policy on the awards program.
