Kentucky research tracks habits of black bears

The prospective mother bears were radio-collared last fall and tracked to potential den locations. In February, biologists revisited the dens to determine reproductive success. Each bear cub received a microchip for future tracking purposes, which will also provide data concerning black bear habitat use, population trends and overall health conditions.
