Seminars give high schoolers insight into natural resources careers
Science and Environmental Education Discovery seminars, hosted by Umpqua Community College, are designed to provide high school students in Douglas County, Oregon, an opportunity to meet with professionals working in the natural resources field.
Pacific Northwest Research Station wildlife biologist Janice Reid is involved in planning the next SEEDS event in May and will be one of the speakers. The second part of the program involves field trips led by agency professionals to various natural resource venues on public lands to see the projects they are working on.
The SEEDS program also provides information about volunteer, internship and employment opportunities in the natural resources field.
