Boise NF hosts Afghanistan government disaster management, emergency officials

March 18, 2017

Boise National Forest partnered with Idaho Council for International visitors to host seven Afghanistan government disaster management officials to explore the Forest Service disaster management and response operations.

Fire management officials explained a broad range of operational topics, including jurisdictional and “closest resource” considerations, incident command system, mud/flood and fire protocols for county and state cooperators, incident management team functions, and more. “This was a good opportunity to share our emergency response at the local level," said Ron Bollier, Deputy Forest Fire Chief. "It's a win-win anytime we can assist other groups with emergency preparedness."
