Smokey made eight new friends that became Junior Rangers during his visit at the day care. Smokey’s friends participated in activities that promoted the protection of flora and fauna from wildfire and fire safety during camping. The children learned about fire safety by constructing a contained campfire, which they made by using rocks, birch logs and holiday lights, and later learned how to properly extinguish the fire. Smokey’s new friends received a Junior Ranger patch and other Smokey handouts for completing the activities.
