HRM: Drug testing update

April 26, 2022

HRM Header

On April 15, 2022, the U.S Department of Agriculture announced testing will resume for all pre-employment, random and follow-up drug-tested positions. USDA previously suspended testing in response to the COVID-19 national emergency. Department of Transportation testing resumed on Nov. 27, 2020.

What You Need to Know

Employees in drug-tested positions who did not previously complete a pre-employment drug test must complete one retroactively. Employees were notified of this requirement at the time of hire. Supervisors and employees can now expect notification of random drug test requirements for non-DOT positions and follow-up testing.

Testing sites are following COVID safe practices consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control.

What You Need to Do

Supervisors of employees in positions that require a drug test will receive instructions for employees on how to complete the required drug test.

Visit the HRM Drug Testing webpage for more information.
