Wills Lake Hunter Walking Trails

Status: Open

This area is Open

Overview/Background

Wills Lake, along with other Hunter Walking Trails, was developed to provide habitat for ruffed grouse and access for hunters.  The forest mix in these areas is managed to provide the food and cover needed by grouse that could be absent from a mature forest.  Expect a mix of forest openings, young regenerating forest, and mature stands.  Management in these areas is made possible with the cooperation of Forest Service partners:  The Ruffed Grouse Society and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Be an ethical hunter.  Track any wounded birds or animals.  Don't shoot anything besides birds or animals you are planning to take.  Control your dog, and pick up dog litter if possible.
