WASHINGTON, DC—From using art and music to communicate data at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest to monitoring water quality with Forest Service staff in Tahoe National Forest, this year’s Greening STEM grantees reflect the very best in student-centered, experiential learning.

The Greening STEM grants program, a partnership between the Forest Service and the National Environmental Education Foundation, provides grants to programs working with middle and high school students that provide meaningful STEM experiences while advancing the Forest Service mission. This year, five Greening STEM grants were awarded through a competitive process.

Using Forest Service sites as living classrooms, each funded project empowers students to address a real-world environmental issue while also introducing them to potential career opportunities.

“This year’s Greening STEM grantees reflect the best-in-class environmental education programs we need to prepare our future workforce. We are proud to partner with NEEF for a third year on this program,” said Acting Director Jim Copeland, Conservation Education.
