March 25, 2017

Earlier this month the Forest Servicein partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development, hosted a workshop titled “Latin American Women and Fire Management” in Tucson, Arizona.

The workshop provided an opportunity for women from Latin America who are involved in wildfire management to receive training, meet other women who work in fire and learn from women in the Forest Service. Women from Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Dominican Republic participated. The program was facilitated by International Programs and included presentations from a number of Forest Service women, including Shawna Legarza and Beth Lund, Fire and Aviation Management director and deputy director, as well as employees from Coronado and Sequoia national forests.
