Law Enforcement and Investigations: An overview
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Law Enforcement and Investigations officers, like many of our employees, live in the communities they serve. LEI personnel are committed to serving their communities locally, by ensuring safety on national forests and grasslands, and globally, when they serve as international experts in timber theft. Protecting forest reserves, in fact, predates the establishment of the Forest Service itself. LEI personnel not only investigate crime, they also serve as ambassadors to the public, ensuring visitors feel welcome on public lands and educating young people about safety and proper behavior.
