WASHINGTON, D.C.—Thank you to all who participated in the 2024 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey. The campaign closed Friday, June 28, with 41% of eligible employees participating in the survey (eligible employees are defined as employees on board in November 2023). The Work Environment & Performance Office (76%), Research and Development Deputy Chief (70%), and Southern Research Station (66%) had the highest participation percentages based on unadjusted rates. Eight organizations exceeded their previous year’s response rate, and two met or exceeded the USDA 2024 goal of 70%. The graph below shows the unadjusted participation rate for each region, station, and deputy chief area when the survey closed.

Later this year, the Office of Personnel Management, which manages the survey, will provide us with adjusted participation rates that account for partially completed surveys, employees without email addresses, and employees determined to be ineligible for the survey. Participation rates for all levels of the Forest Service, with 10 or more participants, will also be provided. When the 2024 final participation rates and survey results are available, they will be accessible to all employees in FEVS Reports, the same location where previous years’ results are stored. Our next steps include continuing actions on our USDA/Forest Service Action Initiatives, local actions in each organization, gathering and sharing Forest Service highlights, and analyzing results of employee’s 2024 FEVS feedback. “From Feedback to Action, Your Voice Guides our Path” in making the Forest Service the best place to work.
