Humboldt-Toiyabe NF moves forward with watershed restoration
Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest issued a decision notice and final environmental assessment on the Currant-Ellison Watershed Restoration Project.
The 185,000-acre project area is located on the Ely Ranger District within the White Pine Range about 30 miles southwest of Ely, Nevada. The project will improve and restore habitats for important wildlife species (e.g. sage-grouse, desert bighorn sheep and mule deer) and important vegetative communities (e.g. sagebrush and riparian areas). It will also create fuel breaks and reduce fuels to increase the potential for successfully managing wildfires within and adjacent to the project area.
