Feeling thankful and grateful
As Thanksgiving approaches, we look forward to gathering with family and friends to give thanks, spend time together and enjoy a special meal in good company. I wish you and your families the very best during this holiday season.
This year, I am grateful for the exemplary service you provide each day as Forest Service employees. It's an honor to stand with you all in service to one another and the American people as we carry out our mission.
Recognizing that some of us are still on duty through the festivities, I especially want to recognize our firefighters, law enforcement officers, recreation staff, and other first responders and employees who are working this holiday. The communities you serve are grateful for the work you do on their behalf. Your commitment ensures that our forests and grasslands remain safe and enjoyable retreats for friends and family to gather, reflect and celebrate the season.
I am so thankful to you for your dedication to service. Above all, I am most thankful for your commitment to safety.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that the holidays can be challenging for some. Please take care of yourself, look out for your family and friends and consider reaching out with a thoughtful gesture to someone who may need it.
And on a lighter note, Smokey Bear will once again appear in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Tune in on NBC or Telemundo station from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in all time zones, on Thanksgiving morning, to see our favorite bear remind viewers of his important message: Only You Can Prevent Wildfires.
Thank you for your hard work, commitment and dedication to our mission. I wish all of you, your families and friends a safe and joyful Thanksgiving.
