CIO: Action Required – FY 2020 USDA Information Security Awareness (ISA) Training

It is that time of the year again! On October 1, 2019, the Fiscal Year 2020 USDA Information Security Awareness training will be available in AgLearn. Forest Service employees need to complete the ISA training by 6:00 A.M. (Mountain), Friday, February 28, 2020, in order to have continued access to the network. You are encouraged to visit the Cyber Information Security Awareness Training website for complete information.

What you need to do to take ISA training

All current or new Permanent, Temporary, and Non-FS (Contractors, Volunteers, Interns, Affiliates, and Fellows) employees are required to take annual ISA training. Please note that due to cyber security and compliance reasons, we are unable to grant any exceptions to this training requirement. For more detailed information regarding the requirement, you can review 5 CFR 930.301 and DR3545-001.

  1. For Current FS Employee

Current FS employees will find the web-based FY 2020 ISA training in AgLearn. It can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.


  1. For New and Returning FS Employees

Supervisors can use the Forest Service Onboarding Checklist for new and returning employees located on the HRM website. Please note that all new/returning employees are required to complete the current fiscal year’s ISA Training through the eForms process. If you need assistance, please contact the Customer Help Desk and ask for the incident to be assigned to Cyber Security Awareness.


  1. For Non-FS Employees Entered into Person Model

Non-FS employees (Contractors, Volunteers, Interns, Affiliates, and Fellows) can be entered into Person Model. CORs, sponsors, or supervisors can use the Non-FS Employee Checklist located on the HRM website.


  1. For Interagency Employees

Please visit the Non-Forest Service Employees web page and scroll to number 6 for ISA training information. In addition, use the Non-FS Employee Checklist located on the HRM website

Note: Any employee that has taken FY 2019 ISA training between July 1, 2019, and September 30, 2019, will be given credit for FY 2020 ISA training with a completion date of October 1, 2019.
