CIO: Browser choice important when registering for the Secretary’s USDA Employee Town Hall
Employees who are having trouble registering for Secretary Vilsack’s March 4 Employee Town Hall meeting should try a different browser to register. The error is occurring when using the Internet Explorer browser to register. The registration link in the March 2 email, “Secretary Vilsack invites you to a USDA Employee Town Hall,” works correctly when employees use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge to register.
Support for Internet Explorer is continuing to decline, and the Zoom Livestream app being used for the Secretary’s event is just one example of apps that no longer work in Internet Explorer.
What you need to do
If you are trying to register for the meeting and experience an error, please ensure your computer uses Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge as its default browser.
For assistance confirming you are using the most current version of the recommended browsers, updating your browser, or setting your default browser to one of the recommended browsers, call the Customer Help Desk at 1-866-945-1354.
If you already have Chrome, Firefox, or Edge on your computer and continue to have problems with the link, you can register by manually navigating to the registration page:
- Right-Click on the registration link in the Office of the Secretary email.
- Choose Copy Hyperlink from the pop-up menu.
- Exit Outlook and manually open your Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser.
- Right-Click in the uniform resource locator (URL, also known as “web address”) field at the top of the browser window; choose Paste.
- Hit Enter on your keyboard, and the registration web page will load.
