Starting Friday, March 6, 2020, the Chief Information Office (CIO) will be installing Box Drive to all Forest Service computers. Box Drive allows users to access content in Pinyon through File Explorer.
Previously, Box Drive had to be manually installed from the Software Center.
What you need to do
If you already have Box Drive installed, you don’t need to do anything.
To check if you have Box Drive, right click on the Start menu and choose File Explorer.
If Box Drive is installed, you will see Box under Quick Access on the left side of the screen.
If Box Drive was not previously installed:
Once you receive the Box Drive installation, you will be prompted to restart. On restart you will see the following dialog box prompting you to login into Box Drive. Follow the instructions below.
- Enter your usda.gov email address and click Next
- You will be redirected to eAuth login page
- Login using your LincPass or your eAuth username and password
- Once logged in, open File Explorer
- On the left-hand side under Quick Access you will see Box. Click on Box to view your files in Pinyon
Note to Box Sync users: The Box Drive installation will uninstall Box Sync. Files in the Box Sync folder will remain; however, they will not sync to the server. Once Box Drive is installed on your computer, verify all content appears in Box Drive, then remove the Box Sync folder. Box Drive’s “Mark for Offline” feature replaces
