HRM: Federal Income Tax Withholdings for Pay Period 5

Approximately 19,000 employees had Federal income tax withholding amounts under-withheld in pay period 26, 2019 for the 2020 tax year. Employees who were impacted, should have received an email from USDA, National Finance Center (nfc@service.govdelivery.com). Employees who do not have an usda.gov email address will receive a hardcopy letter notification at their home address listed in the Employee Personnel Page

The NFC notification identifies the amount that was under-withheld. That amount will be deducted in addition to regular tax withholdings for pay period 5, 2020. NFC is required to collect the under-withheld amount per IRS rules. Employees will see the deduction on their earnings and leave statements as Federal tax other deductions. Employees should review their withholdings amount to see if any adjustments are needed.
