Around the Forest Service: April 2024

April 29, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Earth Day, and the importance of our natural resources, is central to the agency mission. Conserving the nation's forests, especially the conservation of mature and old-growth forests, is in the news. Old forests contribute to air, soil, water quality and diverse habitats. The Forest Service is committed to stewarding these special forests so they can thrive for centuries to come.

Chief Moore testified before the House Appropriations Committee, Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies subcommittee, about the fiscal year 2025 budget request for the Forest Service.

In addition, the agency invested more than $228 million to support schools, roads and other services and continues to partner with the National Fire Protection Association and its Firewise Communities, a program that teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together and act now to prevent losses.

All this and more this month Around the Forest Service.
