Celebrate Earth Day by clearing an invasive

April 14, 2017

Earth Day is every day at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prarie. However, volunteers, partners and staff will celebrate with special activities Saturday, April 29. From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., teams will pull invasive garlic mustard and clear brush. The restoration activities are intended to improve native habitat and protect cultural resources. The activities will be led by Forest Service staff and coordinated by volunteer coordinator Allison Cisneros and assistant volunteer coordinator Kathryn Gorman. Cisneros and Gorman are on staff with The Nature Conservancy and are co-located at Midewin. They manage the Midewin volunteer program through a partnership agreement between the Forest Service and The Nature Conservancy. To reserve your spot in this special activity, email Allison Cisneros or call 815-423-2149.
