Forest Products Modernization Team wraps up employee feedback sessions

WASHINGTON, DC—On Oct. 24 and Nov. 8, the Forest Products Modernization team held two national employee feedback sessions to solicit input on how the agency can streamline our business practices and align our culture, policies and direction to better meet current and future forest restoration needs. During each three-hour virtual session, the team provided an update on the modernization effort, including an overview of the director’s top 10 recommended actions, progress to date, and feedback received from industry and other partners. Following the presentation, employees provided their thoughts on areas where we have the opportunity to improve or streamline our business practices for forest products delivery as well as examples of innovations that have been working on their district or forest.

These sessions followed a series of employee engagements in 2017 and four partner feedback sessions held earlier this fall. The comments and feedback collected from employees and partners will provide important input in the development of a comprehensive strategy for Forest Products Modernization, which is expected to be finalized in spring 2019.
