Forest Service employees invited to participate in special use authorization and drones webinar
Many types of Unmanned Aircraft System, also known as UAS and drones, flights over National Forest System lands require special use authorizations from the Forest Service. These include use of UAS at ski resorts, use of UAS by production companies to shoot video and use of UAS to inspect communications sites.
Fire and Aviation Management is hosting a webinar for Forest Service employees Wednesday, May 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time to discuss Forest Service special use authorizations and UAS.
Topics will include an update on UAS developments, when special use authorizations are and aren’t required for UAS flights over NFS lands and enforcement of Forest Service and Federal Aviation Administration regulations pertaining to UAS flights.
There will also be an opportunity for Forest Service employees to ask questions. Log in and call in information for the webinar is available on the Washington Office Fire and Aviation Management intranet site (note: if you don’t see the information at the bottom of the intranet page, refresh/reload your browser).
For additional information, contact Jami Anzalone, Forest Service UAS Program Manager, or Brad Quayle, Forest Service UAS Advisory Group Chair.
