Mature and old growth employee engagement sessions

February 8, 2023

Forest Service insignia.

WASHINGTON, DC—This summer, the Forest Service began working in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management to achieve the goals outlined in Executive Order 14072: “Strengthening the Nation’s Forests, Communities, and Local Economies. Section 2(b) of the executive order requires the Forest Service and BLM to define, identify, and complete a national inventory of old-growth and mature forests on federal lands by April 23, 2023.

To address this task, it’s vital that employees across the agencies and public stakeholders have opportunities to provide input on this initiative. Employees are invited to attend one of the following employee engagement sessions on Feb. 14, at which time, the Mature and Old Growth Initiative Team will provide updates, request input and answer questions.

When: Feb. 14

  • Meeting 1: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (ET)
  • Meeting 2: 2-4 p.m. (ET)

Register for either meeting using this form:  https://forms.office.com/g/t5av7FT8Yt

Upon registration, attendees will receive an email confirmation, meeting link and calendar invite. Also, for those unable to attend, a session recording will be shared following the event.

The team met with stakeholders this summer to solicit ideas and feedback.

For more information, please send an email to the mature and old growth initiative communications team at: sm.fs.fsmogi_comm@usda.gov. Be sure to put “Feb. 14 employee meetings” in the subject line.
