Alaska Region celebrates its best and brightest during annual Regional Forester’s Awards
ALASKA — The 2024 Regional Forester’s Awards for the Alaska Region have once again highlighted the exceptional dedication, collaboration and innovation demonstrated by nearly 700 Forest Service employees working in Alaska’s two national forests, the Tongass and the Chugach.
These annual awards, rooted in the core values of the Forest Service, celebrate individuals and teams that go beyond in fulfilling the agency’s mission and living its values across various categories.
The yearly awards are divided into key categories, each reflecting the Forest Service’s cultural commitments.
The Interdependence Award, recognized group and individual recipients for fostering collaboration and teamwork across diverse departments, ensuring that Alaska’s forests are managed with collective strength.
The Customer Service Award honored those who consistently went the extra mile to meet the needs of the public, partners and communities, improving the connection between the Forest Service and those it serves.
The Innovation Award showcased creative solutions and novel approaches, recognizing teams and individuals who found innovative ways to address challenges, whether in forest management, technology integration or operational efficiency.
The Safe Work Environment Award paid tribute to employees who prioritize safety by creating and maintaining an environment where the well-being of all is protected.
The Partnership and Public Engagement Award celebrated those who have forged strong partnerships with external organizations and the public, ensuring that the management of Alaska’s national forests is inclusive and community oriented.
The Conservation Award recognized exemplary stewardship of natural resources, reflecting the agency’s commitment to preserving Alaska’s forests for future generations.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award highlighted individuals and teams who work to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all employees, fostering a workplace that celebrates diversity and encourages equitable opportunities.
Finally, the coveted Employee(s) of the Year Award was presented to an outstanding duo whose exceptional contributions reflect the absolute best of the Forest Service’s values and mission.
Through these awards, the Alaska Region celebrates its employees’ remarkable commitment to conservation, safety, innovation, and service, further cementing the region’s legacy of excellence in forest management and public service.
