VIDEO: Long Valley Riparian Meadow Restoration Project

This video from Arizona Elk Society highlights the work of hundreds of volunteers on the Long Valley Riparian Meadow Restoration Project.  Their efforts have helped to restore natural flows of this high elevation meadow on the Coconino National Forest.

Rim Country Draft Environmental Impact Statement

October 19, 2019 - The 90-day public comment period for the Rim Country Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is open. 

4FRI involves the entire suite of restoration efforts

  The 4 Forest Restoration Initiative is commonly associated the Task Orders of the Phase 1 Stewardship Contract (held by Good Earth Power AZ), but 4FRI isn't just a stewardship contract. In fact, it isn't even just about thinning.

In addition to the Phase 1 Contract Task Orders, multiple other restoration projects continue to be implemented across the four forests...

4FRI Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS)

The Coconino and Kaibab National Forests prepared a Four-Forest Restoration Initiative DEIS. The DEIS proposes a suite of restoration actions across the forests over a period of 10 years. The DEIS was developed in collaboration with many individuals, groups, and agencies. The comment period on the DEIS closed May 29, 2013.

CFLRP 5-Year Report now available

In 2015,the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration (CFLR) Program celebrates its five-year anniversary. This milestone is an important opportunity to assess progress toward program goals—part of that is the 5-Year Report to Congress.

Restricted Areas - Closed Developed Recreation Sites in The Southwestern Region

To protect public health and safety, and the health and safety of our employees and volunteers, and reflecting federal and state guidance to limit the spread of COVID-19, developed recreation sites are currently closed and group sizes are limited in other areas. 

VIDEO: Healthy Forests, Vibrant Economy Conference

The Salt River Project hosted the 3rd annual Healthy Forests, Vibrant Economy Conference in October 2015. This two-day event featured a convergence of business leaders, government partners, scientists, researchers and those with an interest in forest health. The video from the conference is available for viewing.

The Lorax Partnership

As an enduring symbol of forest conservation, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax offers a message of hope and renewal, restoration and responsibility. Through the Discover the Forest campaign, the Forest Service has partnered with the Ad Council and Universal Pictures to launch a series of public service advertisements featuring characters from the animated adventure Dr Seuss’ The Lorax.

4FRI Selected for NEPA Pilot Program

4FRI has been selected as a pilot project for the White House Council on Environmental Quality’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Pilot Program. The selection will allow 4FRI to serve as a national model for collaborative NEPA planning at the landscape scale.
