Reintroducing Fire in Fire-Adapted Natural Communities

VERMONT, FALL 2022— Fire has played an important role at “The Dome” in Southern Vermont and has contributed to a diverse dry oak forest plant community. On the western slopes of the Dome, there is evidence of frequent fire return intervals during the 19th century into the early 20th century.

CorpsTHAT comes to the Greens

VERMONT, SUMMER 2022— A 6-member CorpsTHAT crew spent a month in the Green Mountain National Forest learning from natural resource specialists and teaching others—an experience that inspired many to explore beyond their boundaries.

Ongoing Air Quality Monitoring of Lye Brook Wilderness

VERMONT, WINTER 2022— Data collected over decades from Mount Snow and Mount Equinox has helped to document improved air quality in the Lye Brook Wilderness Area.

Explore the Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts

EASTERN REGION (R9), SUMMER 2020—The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service signed a Shared Stewardship Framework in November of 2019 under which they will partner with each other, local governments, and other stakeholders to advance the goals of the Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts to conserve forests and enhance economic development in the region.
