Complete regulations on special use permits authorized on National Forests are published at Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations Part 251 (36 CFR 251). You may obtain copies of the Code of Federal Regulations from your local Forest Service office, or by visiting the Government Printing Office or National Archives and Records Administration’s websites.

Appeal Regulations
The appeal regulations document the process by which a holder of a written authorization may appeal a written decision by an authorized officer with regard to issuance, approval or administration of a written authorization.

Permit Fees
Forest Service regulation directs the authorized officer to determine and collect in advance an annual rental fee for special-use authorizations. The fee is to be based on the value of the authorized use by appraisal or other sound business management principles to reflect fair market value for that use.
