Information on camping regulations throughout the Forest in effect beginning 5/2/2023, including prohibited areas, stay limits, and vehicle limits.
This order is in place to protect public health and safety, reduce the likelihood of wildfires and the loss of property, and to provide the public consistent public health and safety guidelines in the Pacific Northwest Region in alignment with similar State and local laws and regulations.
This Order applies to two segments of Forest Service Road (FSR) 1861000. Both segments are located on the Siuslaw National Forest. One segment (mileposts 0.0 to 1.55) is in Lincoln County, Oregon. The second segment (mileposts 7.3 to 11.33) is in Tillamook County, Oregon. This Order prohibits all motorized and mechanized vehicles on FSR 1861000 between mileposts 0.0 and 1.55, and between mileposts 7.3 and 11.33.
The following acts are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System to include National Forests, National Scenic Areas, National Monuments and National Grasslands administered by the Pacific Northwest Region (Region 6) within the states of Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho as described in the Order.
This order prohibits possessing a beverage which is defined as an alcohol beverage by State law. For the purposes of this section, possession of alcoholic beverage includes: containment within a motor vehicle, tent, or other structure, by the owner, operator, or other person, having the authority or control of this location 36 CFR
The closure area consists of all lands - including dispersed off highway vehicle campsites, on the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and Sand Lake Recreation Area.

This order designates Snowy plover dry sand closure areas. The following is prohibited in these areas:
(1) Going into or being upon the Snowy Plover Dry Sand Closure Area.
(2) Landing of aircraft, or dropping or picking up any material, supplies, or person by means of an aircraft, including a helicopter, within the Snowy Plover Dry Sand Closure Area.
(3) Possessing, storing, or transporting any bird, fish or other animal or parts therof within or from the Snowy Plover Dry Sand Closure Area.
(4) Dogs running at large.
