Lidar data covering most of the ponderosa pine belt within the 4FRI area is available from multiple separate acquisitions flown between 2013 and 2019. Lidar point cloud and bare earth elevation data is available through the USGS. The two acquisitions in 2013 and 2014 covered areas in the southeastern portion of the Coconino, northern portions of the Tonto, and portions of the Apache-Sitgreaves extending from the Black Mesa Ranger District to the Alpine Ranger District. An acquisition in 2018 covered the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts on the Kaibab as well as portions of the Flagstaff Ranger District on the Coconino. An acquisition across the remaining ponderosa pine extent between the 2013 and 2018 acquisitions on the Coconino was flown in 2019.
Lidar data will be available in the future over an area covering an area in the Sierra Anchas on the Tonto National Forest. This data is not expected to be available until later in 2022 or 2023.
