Be Bear Aware
Most of the Custer Gallatin National Forest is bear country. For your safety and the safety of our native wildlife in Montana, be bear aware, all year long! A food storage order is in place for five of the seven districts. Learn what you can do to properly hike, recreate and be bear aware.

Many opportunities, services and facilities across the Custer Gallatin National Forest are free to enjoy for hiking, biking, skiing, nature viewing, scenic drives and more. However, some activities do require fees or permits to help maintain, manage, and improve recreational amenities.
