Nature & Science

The Dixie National Forest occupies almost 2 million acres and stretches approximately 170 miles across southern Utah.  Elevations vary from 2,800 feet near St. George, Utah to 11,322 feet at Blue Bell Knoll on Boulder Mountain.  It can be challenging to manage such diverse ecosystems.  Forest management relies upon science to support informed management decisions and centers on creating and maintaining healthy ecosystems and communities.
