Other Permits
A Special Use Authorization is a permit that grants rights or privileges of occupancy and use subject to specified terms and conditions on National Forest land. These permits cover activities, such as construction of roads, power and water lines, research, mineral and timber processing, etc. Please contact any Ranger District for information about non-recreation special use permits and recreation special use permits.
Wilderness Permits for the Gila Wilderness, the Aldo Leopold Wilderness or the Blue Range Wilderness are not required.
Campfire permits are not required to use a camp stove, lantern, charcoal fire or campfire during most of the year. Check with the local ranger district to find out if there are fire restrictions on the Gila NF. Do you know how to build, tend and extinguish a campfire correctly? Learn how from Smokey Bear.
Permits for parties or gatherings such as weddings, reunions, sporting events or activities for non-profit organizations fall under Noncommercial Group Use Permits.
