Permanent Fire Positions

The Hoosier National Forest will soon be filling multiple vacancies for permanent (full-time) employment in the Fire Program. The duty station is located at the Tell City Ranger District Office in Tell City, IN. For additional details regarding each position, please contact Ryan Otto.

Upcoming Positions on the Hoosier (Outreach Database)

NEPA Planner(GS-0401-09 & GS-0101/0401-11)

The Shawnee and Hoosier National Forests will soon be hiring two permanent, full-time GS-0101/0401-11 NEPA Planner positions and two permanent, full-time GS-0401-09 NEPA Planner positions. The positions are located at the National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Harrisburg, Illinois and Bedford, Indiana. These positions are non-supervisory.

Archaeological Technician (GS-0102-7)

The Hoosier National Forest is seeking a qualified applicant to fill one full-time permanent Archeology Technician GS-0102-7 position. The duty station will be Tell City, Indiana. The Hoosier National Forest is seeking a qualified applicant to fill an Archaeologist GS-0193-9/11 position. The duty station will be either Bedford, Indiana or Tell City, Indiana. Botanist, GS-0430-07/09 (11) 

The Hoosier National Forest is seeking to fill a permanent, full-time Botanist GS-0430-7/9 (11) position located either at the Brownstown (Bedford, IN) or Tell City (Tell City, IN) Ranger District. This opportunity is open to recent graduates and merit candidates. This position is being included with the Range Management, Soil, and Sciences Career Opportunities hiring event and candidates can find more information by reviewing the appropriate outreach links below. Candidates interested in this opportunity are encouraged to respond to the appropriate USFS Outreach Notice for internal or external candidates no later than January 23, 2024. The vacancy announcement for this position will be open on USAJobs from January 24, 2024, through February 21, 2024.
