Planning

Documents that guide management of the national forest are located on this page. The focus is broad scale: regional, forest-wide, or landscape-level. The Ouachita National Forest Revised Land and Resource Management Plan, monitoring reports, and other assessments and planning documents are available.

Projects

Information on specific projects the Ouachita National Forest is evaluating, planning, or actively implementing is located on this page. The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) project documentation are available.

Resource Management

Resource management program information is available for fish & wildlife management, timber resources, minerals and geology and much more.

Cattle Dip Vat Management Program

In response to potential contamination at former Cattle Dip Vat (CDV) sites across the Southeast, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (FS) Southern Region (R8) developed a CDV Management Program to quickly and efficiently reduce risk posed by arsenic in the soils at these sites. A total of 29 CDV sites within the Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis National Forests have been investigated under this program. The purpose of this project web page is to inform the public about the planned removal action. The web page has a list of available documents about the project including how to comment.

National Historic Preservation Act

Draft programmatic agreement regarding the process for compliance with section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for undertakings on the Ozark-St. Francis and Ouachita National Forests

Land Donation to Winding Stair Mtn Nat'l Rec Area

The Conservation Fund recently finalized a donation of 160 acres to the Ouachita National Forest. The land lies within the Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation Area near the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, Upper Kiamichi River Wilderness and the Talimena Scenic Drive.
