A Force of Nature
At times, wildland fire can create many environmental benefits, such as reducing grass, brush, and trees that can fuel large and severe wildfires and improving wildlife habitat. Other times, wildfires can wreak havoc, threatening lives, homes, communities, and natural and cultural resources. Fire is both friend and foe.
Wildfire Crisis Strategy
Since the Forest Service released its 10-year wildfire strategy, the agency and its partners have identified specific areas where fuels treatment projects will begin being implemented this year.
