Event/Commercial Permits

Chetco River fishingBeginning on October 15, 2015, and annually thereafter, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will accept completed applications for consideration between October 15 to January 15 for annual permit re-authorizations or new activities on National Forest System lands.

This open season application process pertains to all recreation events, and outfitter or guided activities proposed to occur from January 1 through December 31 of the following year, and any proposed modification to permitted improvements for recreation residences and resorts.

Applications accepted during this open season will be date-stamped and evaluated in the order they are received. Applications that are received after January 15th will be returned with a notice to re-submit during the next open season period.

Depending on the complexity of the proposal, obtaining a special use authorization can sometimes be a lengthy process. In order to facilitate this process, coordinate early with the District where you would like to operate.

Not all proponents receive a permit; therefore, any action taken before receiving a special use authorization, such as advertising or expending funds, is premature and at the proponent's risk.
