Be safe when visiting the Sierra National Forest
- Research weather and road conditions and make sure your vehicle is mechanically ready;
- Avoid areas with dead standing trees, look up before you choose a trail, park your car, or set your camp, always be aware of your surroundings;
- Be Bear Aware. The Sierra National Forest is habitat for black bears.
- Know before you go. Wildfire and prescribed fire information can be found on InciWeb.
- Let family and friends know your plans, destination and return home, in the event of an unexpected emergency. Remember cell service in the Forest may not be available;
- Pack out your trash and leave with everything you bring in and use;
- Recreate Responsibly!

Sequoia and Sierra National Forests Land Management Plans Revision
The Forest Service has completed plan revision for the Sequoia and Sierra National Forests and released final records of decision, forest plans, and the final environmental impact statement. These documents reflect over a decade of environmental analysis and coordination with Tribes, partners, and the public.

Sierra National Forest clears the way on Garnite Dike Road
Sierra National Forest successfully cleared a major landslide on Garnite Dike Road, restoring access for both forest management and public recreation. The project initiated after the Basin fire highlighted the urgent need for intervention. Ranger Kim Sorini and District Fire Management Officer Victor Lefor began coordinating efforts with the Dozer group in August to develop a unique strategy for clearing the road.
