Children at owl program with masksThere are many things the Wayne does that are just for kids. Environmental Education is a regular component on the Wayne National Forest. Wild Weekend Discovery Series programs are held. The prorams are designed to spark curiosity and increase children's knowledge and enjoyment of the natural world. The series is hosted at the Wayne National Forest at the Athens Unit headquarters outside of Nelsonville or occasionally on the Forest.

Smokey Bear has been a member of our families since 1944. The purpose of the Smokey Program is to create and maintain public awareness, through the image of Smokey Bear, about the need to prevent unplanned, human-caused wildland fires.  This link takes you to the national webpage for Smokey Bear.
